RIT TRAINING WITH MANHEIM TWP. FIRE RESCUE

May 3rd & 4th - Over the course of the weekend the East Petersburg Volunteers had the opportunity to train with Manheim Twp. Fire Rescue on rapid intervention and self rescue skills in an acquired structure from Brethren Village. Various drills were held over the weekend which included wall breaching, below grade rescues, hose slides and downed firefighter rescues with rapid intervention team deployments.

 

 


 

EAST PETERSBURG VOLUNTEERS MEET FUTURE FIREFIGHTER

Apr. 24th - After a busy morning the volunteers loaded up on the truck to assist in making a little boys wish come true. The volunteers of East Petersburg went to Derrick's grandmothers house to pick him up for a ride on a fire truck. As we arrived Derrick met us in his turnout gear and was ready to go. After his ride the volunteers had to sign his autograph book and take a group photo. Congratulations to Derrick for his accomplishment and your more than welcome to visit the Fire Station anytime.

 

 


 

TRUCK WORKS 2 ALARM FIRE IN LITITZ

Apr. 24th - For the second time in less than a week the volunteers from the 23 House were put to work assisting Lititz FC with a working fire. At 00:37 Truck 23 was dispatched as part of the second alarm assignment for the working house fire in Lititz Borough. Truck 23 arrived in staging with seven personnel and were quickly put to work securing utilities and salvage. As conditions began to get worse in the Delta exposure Truck 23 was moved into the scene to open up the Charlie side of the structures while the crew was operating on the third division of the delta exposure. After opening numerous inspection and ventilation holes in the roof with the aerial ladder due to the properties being balloon frame the truck was finally  released after working the incident for three hours.

ENGINE WORKS WARWICK TWP. DWELLING FIRE

Apr. 19th - Just as we were finishing up our annual chicken barbecue the tones were dropped for the engine to assist Lititz FC with a working dwelling fire. Engine 231 was the second arriving engine company and secured a water supply for Eng. 251. After securing a water supply the crew went in service with a 1.75" line and a blitz fire to contain the fire in the garage from spreading into the house further. After the bulk of the fire was knocked the engine crew assisted with salvage and overhaul. Crews worked on the scene for 3 hours before returning to service.


 

FRIDAY BRINGS THREE

Apr. 18th - The first of three box assignments with Rohrerstown came at 02:47 for the Truck to assist on the reported building fire on Columbia Ave. As the truck went enroute Command 67 downgraded the assignment to Company 67. The second run with 67 came in at 18:36 to assist with a working woods fire. The Crew from the engine assisted with dragging a 2 1/2 up the hill and assist with suppression and building a fire line. The last dispatch of the day came in at 21:36 for the rescue squad for a vehicle accident on Rt. 30. Command 67 down graded the assignment and the rescue squad was placed available.


 

ENTRAPMENT IN THE FIRST DUE

Apr. 11th- As the volunteers were leaving work for the weekend the tones were dropped for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Chief 23 arrived with a two vehicle accident with one out of the vehicle and one still entrapped. Upon the arrival of the Rescue Squad the crews made quick work of stabilizing the vehicle and removing both doors on the drivers door, while the engine company handled hazard control and fire suppression during the extrication.


 

HIGHWAY INCIDENT

Apr. 4th - The Rescue Squad along with Eng. 752 were alerted by LCWC to assist Hempfield FD. with a vehicle accident on Route 283. Crews assisted with patient care and hazard control before being released by Command.

 

 

 

 


 

ONE ON ITS ROOF

Apr. 3rd - In the early morning hours the station was alerted for the vehicle accident with one on its roof. Deputy 23 arrived with one on its roof with all patients out of the vehicle. The rescue squad arrived and checked for hazards and assisted EMS with patient care.

 


 

MUTUAL AID RESCUE COMPANY TRAINING

Mar. 17th - On this evening the volunteers headed to the Public Safety Training Center to practice bus rescue techniques with West Hempfield Fire Rescue (76).  With a large cache of rescue tools between the two rescue companies the crews practiced doing seat removals, roof removals and creating entrance and exit pathways through the side of the bus. While at the training center the Deputy Chief, truck and engine handled a reported electrical panel that was melting in the borough.
