Yellow Freight Roof Work

July 6th – Just after 2 the first alarm assignment for box 232 was dispatched for the building fire at the old Yellow Freight building bringing units from 23, 67, 719, 26, 75 and 201. Chief 23 arrived shortly after the dispatch with smoke showing from the roof area. Upon investigation it was determined that the demolition crews torching had set the layers of roof on fire. Crews from Trucks 23 and 67 made the roof and started opening up while the crews from 671 and 201 lines placed in service to knock the fire. Do to the high temperatures crews were rotated on the roof to finish overhaul operations. The fire was contained quickly and all units were released within one hour of dispatch.
