EAST PETERSBURG, PA – In response to recent events in York County and following discussions with the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department (NLCRPD), the East Petersburg Fire Company (EPFC) has graciously offered to donate Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) for each police vehicle in the department’s fleet.
Each NLCRPD officer will receive training on the proper use and application of these kits, along
with members of the East Petersburg Fire Company.
“The members of the East Petersburg Fire Company felt that this was a vital piece of
equipment that our police department should have in every vehicle,” said Fire Chief
Jamie Rohrer. “This effort represents another important example of emergency
service organizations working together to support and protect one another and our
community.”
Chief Josh Kilgore of the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department expressed his
full support and appreciation for the donation, emphasizing the importance of readiness,
cooperation, and lifesaving preparedness among first responders.
A presentation and handoff of the kits will take place on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 6:30
p.m. at the East Petersburg Fire Company station. Media representatives and community
members are welcome to attend.
ABOUT THE IFAK
IFAK stands for Individual First Aid Kit — a compact, specialized medical kit designed to treat
severe injuries and trauma until professional medical help arrives. Originating from military first
aid systems, IFAKs contain essential, life-saving tools such as:
● Tourniquet – Stops severe bleeding from limbs.
● Pressure bandages & hemostatic gauze – Controls bleeding and promotes clotting.
● Chest seals – Treats penetrating chest wounds and prevents lung collapse.
● Medical shears, gloves, and other trauma supplies.
Unlike traditional first aid kits, which are intended for minor injuries, IFAKs are designed for life-threatening emergencies, providing the tools necessary to save a life in the critical moments before advanced medical assistance is available.
